A memorable celebration for the Class of 2026
On the past Friday, we celebrated the graduation ceremony of our Year 13 students at ELIS Villamartín.
The event began with families, staff and students arriving and gathering in a warm and celebratory atmosphere, marking the beginning of a very special evening.
The ceremony was officially opened by our Headteacher, Jon Wayth, who delivered a heartfelt speech recognising the dedication, resilience and personal growth of the Class of 2026, as well as the invaluable support of families and staff throughout their journey.
This was followed by reflections from our student delegates, Diana Volfson and Mario Navarro, who shared their experiences and memories of their time at the school. Their words captured both the challenges and the achievements that shaped their years at ELIS Villamartín.
The awarding of graduation sashes then took place, presented by the Year 13 tutors, Claire Rayan and Toñi Legidos, as each student was individually recognised for their accomplishments and contribution to school life.
The ceremony continued with closing speeches from Catherine Hill, Head of Upper School, and Juan Manuel Marco, Head of Sixth Form and Technical Director, who praised the cohort for their commitment, maturity and spirit, and encouraged them as they prepared for the next stage of their journey.
Following the formal proceedings, group photographs were taken, capturing this important milestone, before families, students and staff enjoyed a celebratory cocktail reception together.
In total, 33 students graduated this year, representing 9 different nationalities within a school community of more than 35. They will now continue their higher education journey at universities both in Spain and internationally, with destinations as diverse as the United States, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, among others. Among the prestigious institutions chosen by our graduates is the University of Oxford, a reflection of the talent, ambition and international outlook that characterise the Class of 2026.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026. You leave ELIS Villamartín with pride, memories and a lasting legacy. Wherever your path leads, you will always remain part of our school community.
Congratulations, Class of 2026!
