Students at ELIS Villamartín joined over 65,000 students and 15,000 Cognita professionals around the world last Friday to focus on the importance of wellbeing in education.

Our school collapsed the timetable for the entirety of Global Be Well Day, a worldwide event led by Cognita, the family of over 90 schools of which ELIS Villamartín is a member.

“Our school focuses on wellbeing all year round, but by joining together with school communities in 14 different countries around the world on this day in September, we celebrate our collective commitment to wellbeing. This year’s theme of resources, Diet through the lens of sustainability, reflects our students’ passion for enacting change for our future, something which we are immensely proud of. The day is an annual reminder of the priority we all place on wellbeing which we believe is the genuine foundation of education,” said our Headteacher, Simon Roberts.

Now in its fourth year, Global Be Well Day was full of activities and events based on the Cognita Be Well Charter. Whilst the theme for this year’s resources celebrates one of the Physical contributors to wellbeing, diet, our school community of students, parents and employees took an approach which encompassed all Physical and Mental contributors to wellbeing from the Cognita Be Well Charter.

Our students enjoyed a very wide range of activities focused on how a sustainable diet benefits not only our health and wellbeing but also the world we live in: workshops about the use of fruit and vegetables in other countries’ cuisine, how to prepare a healthy snack easily or fruit in vegetables in art were only some of them.

Of course, there was also time for some other activities which can improve our wellbeing such as yoga, pilates, zumba, tapata, mindfulness or dance.

We are all already looking forward to celebrating the next Global We Well Day in September 2023!!
