Once again, ELIS Villamartín proudly joined Cognita’s global family of schools in celebrating the 2024 edition of Global Be Well Day, a day dedicated to promoting wellbeing across more than 100 schools worldwide. This year’s theme, Giving, inspired pupils, staff and families alike to focus on the importance of generosity, connection and empathy.

The day began with a heartwarming initiative called Giving to Earth, where younger students planted seeds after listening to stories read by their older peers, emphasizing the value of giving time to care for the planet. Additionally, they took part in a cooking workshop, preparing healthy fruit smoothies and brochettes as a gesture of thanks to the kitchen staff.

Elsewhere, students worked together to decorate the school grounds, strengthening bonds through creative expression. Others participated in decorating Kind Boxes, filled with donated items, which will be given to Cruz Roja as part of our Impact Hour initiative, teaching the importance of supporting those in need.

In another part of the school, pupils collaborated with teachers to create a beautiful Gratitude Tree, a visual representation of all the things they are thankful for. Chess workshops, led by talented students and a taekwondo exhibition organized by older students, provided opportunities for skill-building and teamwork. Meanwhile, music workshops brought students together to learn short music scores from their teachers.

Additional activities included Air Fix model making, yoga and mindfulness sessions, and an exciting escape room challenge that encouraged collaboration and problem-solving. The day also featured a Podcast activity, where students explored the theme of Giving through engaging discussions.

The celebration culminated in a dynamic GBWD Dance in the playground, with pupils joyfully concluding the event with energy and spirit. Earlier, representatives from Cruz Roja led assemblies, sharing the impact of their work and the importance of caring and giving.

At ELIS Villamartín, we firmly believe that students must feel well to learn well. This principle underpins our entire educational approach and Global Be Well Day serves as a powerful reminder of how essential wellbeing is to our students’ personal and academic growth. Through holistic, high-quality experiences, we continue to nurture not only their intellectual capabilities but also their emotional and social development.

In addition to fostering wellbeing, we aim to shape our students into exceptional examples of global citizenship. Last Friday’s activities helped reinforce the importance of kindness, care, and respect — key values we believe every student should embody in an increasingly interconnected world.

Global Be Well Day is not just a one-day event; it is part of our year-round commitment to enriching the lives of our students through meaningful, quality experiences that build resilience, compassion, and a deep sense of community. At ELIS Villamartín, we are dedicated to ensuring that our students thrive in every aspect of their lives, helping them become thoughtful, kind and empowered individuals in a rapidly evolving world.
